World Premiere of "LOST ISLAND" at the Just Press Play Film Festival IV
My new short-film "Lost Island" (20 min) is a road-movie which was partly shot on the deserted island of Gunkanjima. The world premiere will take place at Osaka's independent movie-theatre Dogra Magra in Shinsaibashi. There will be three shows at about 18:00, 20:00 and 22:00. Admission: 1100 Yen (includes one drink).
After the screenings we will celebrate in the bar downstairs. The main actress and actor will be present.
Directions: Get out exit 6, Shinsaibashi Station and make a right. Walk three blocks and turn left at Hachiman-suji

Photo Exhibition at The Museum of Kyoto

Article and Photos in Kansai Time Out Magazine, Photos in Japan Zine
The December issue of KTO features an article I wrote about the abandoned island of Gunkanjima. What once used to be the most densely populated spot on earth is now a deserted island with a huge ghost town where many architectural jewels can be found.

Screening of "Even a large River starts with a Drop of Water" at the Anonon Festival

Concert at the Mahoroba Music Festival in Nara
Shakuhachi bamboo flute player Matsumoto Taro and Jazz pianist Roger Walch were invited to play at the 36th Nara prefectural music festival at Naraken Bunka Kaikan (International Hall). The festival features eight music groups which were chosen among 450 applicants. New OSK Nihon Kagekidan will be the special guest. The concert starts at 13:00, doors open at 12:30. Location: Five minutes on foot from Kintetsu Nara station. Entrance fee: 1000 Yen.

Duo Concert of Matsumoto Taro and Roger Walch in Kobe
Shakuhachi bamboo flute player Matsumoto Taro and Jazz pianist Roger Walch play at Nishinomiya's (Kobe) new natural restaurant "Over Garden" in order to celebrate the harvest moon. Expect a concert that includes both Japanese folk songs and contemporary Jazz-tunes. The location of the concert is famous for its blend of architecture, furniture design, landscape garden and natural food. Doors open at 18:30. Location: A few blocks from Hanshin Nishinomiya station. "Friendship Prize" for Roger Walch's documentary film
Roger Walch's documentary film "Even a large River starts with a Drop of Water" won the "Friendship Prize" at the International Friendship Film Festival at Expo Aichi 2005, Japan. The five judges of this international documentary film festival were: Japanese actor/movie director Okuda Eiji, Japanese actress Takeshita Keiko, English movie director John Williams, movie critic Kitagawa Reiko and the president of the Aichi Arts Center, Mori Masao. The prize consists of 100 000 Yen and a supplementary prize.

World premiere of Roger Walch's new documentary
Roger Walch's new documentary film "Even a large River starts with a Drop of Water" (about the friendship between the Japanese city of Shinshiro and Switzerland) will have its premiere in the Aichi Pavilion (Aichiken-Kan) on the occasion of "Shinshiro Day" at the Expo 2005, Japan. The film lasts 28 minutes and was shot on DV Cam. The screening will take place in the early afternoon (check the local press and the flyers for the exact time).

Film Screening in the Swiss pavilion at Expo Aichi
I was asked by the city of Shinshiro (sister city of Switzerland) to make a short documentary movie for the Swiss national day celebrations at the Aichi Expo. The 6-minute film is called "The Tezutsu Hanabi of Shinshiro-city" and is about the spectacular hand-held tezutsu-fireworks for which Shinshiro is famous. The celebratory events start at 16:00. YUWAKU 2 at the 2nd Tokyo Chikashitsu (Underground) Festival
My short feature film "Yuwaku 2" will be shown at the 2nd Tokyo Chikashitsu Festival in Tokyo. This festival is a Must for everyone interested in the contemporary Japanese avant-garde and underground scene. It showcases current movements in the fields of music, dance, painting, theatre and visual arts. Location: Live-Bar The Doors, Hatsudai (Tokyo). Time of the festival: 16:30 - 22:00, Yuwaku 2 is scheduled to be screened at around 18:15. Access: Take the Keio Line from Shinjuku and get off at Hatsudai station (one station West of Shinjuku). Directing a documentary film for the Aichi Expo 2005, Japan
I was invited to direct a documentary film about the Swiss participation in the EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan. My camera man (Joerg Buehler) and I will be staying at Shinshiro City (the partner town of the Swiss Confederation during the Expo) for about three weeks. The main purpose of the film is to record the interchange between the town and its citizens and the country of Switzerland before and after the Swiss "National Day" (April 15th), a celebratory event to be held by each country during the Expo. But the film will also cover the life and culture of the local people, the surrounding nature, environmental issues and of course the Swiss pavilion at the Expo site. The film will compete with other documentary films by filmmakers from 21 countries at the Expo 2005 Aichi Japan Friendship Film Festival in September.

Participation in the "Art Channel Vol.4, 2005" in Osaka
This art fair and art flea market takes place at the Osaka Business Park (OBP) in the Twin 21 Building, not far from Osaka castle. The event is organised by the OBP Art Project and sponsored by companies like Matsushita Denki. Expect a variety of genres and styles. There will also be performances and concerts. In my booth I will present my photo book, DVDs of my short-films, Music CDs and my latest photo prints/post cards. Access by JR or Keihan train or by subway (get either off at Kyobashi station or at Osaka Business Park Station). The event starts at 11 am and closes at 6:30 pm.

In my second year of participation in this yearly photo exhibition in

The two concerts of this ad-hoc Jazz band will be co-hosted by the German Culture Center and the British Council. Screening of YUWAKU 1 and 2 at CINECC Film Festival, Kyoto
It is a great honor for me to be invited as a special guest and
panelist to this year’s Kyoto Student Independent Film Festival CINECC
(October 15 – 24). The festival will take place at two venues: at
Seibukodo (University Kyoto) and at Art Complex 1928. My short films
YUWAKU 1 and YUWAKU 2 will be shown at Seibukudo in the all night
program on Friday night (October 15) and in the official program on

Three of Roger Walch's short-films will be shown in the program "New Video & Film Work Exhibitionion" of the "Eizou no Cosmology VII"-filmfestival (Cosmology of the Moving Image VII) at Atelier 2001 in Kobe (Japan)on February 9th, starting at 2:00 pm.
